Sometimes when we are given a gift we know right away, but most of the time it takes a while. October has been one of those hidden gifts. It hasn't been easy but as it draws to an end it becomes easier to see the changes it has left behind. I’m more than a quarter of the way through this amazing journey and although it feels as if little has changed I know this is not the case. I’m not just saying that because I’m currently waiting for my bus, wearing a scarf, and writing on grid paper with a fancy pen , oh no the changes I believe are more profound than that.
The only way I can describe how it feels to be in Germany is by comparing it to being at your best friend’s house; it feels like home but not your home. However it’s a commonly known fact that being at a friend’s house is always more fun than being at home. The language has improved greatly and I try to speak as much German as possible, English is now only allowed when utterly necessary!
Basically this month can be described in one word: adaptation.
With adaptation though came the realization that I was in fact in a different country and that the comforts of home would not be coming back any time soon. This of course brought on a tough moment or two throughout the month but it’s made me realize how strong I am and how determined I am to make this experience all it can be. Life is definitely harder here where I have to think of everything I do more acutely than at home (which is very tiresome) but all the effort makes it that much more rewarding. Fortunately I am convinced that I have the best support system both here and at home that has no doubt helped tremendously in adjusting to life in a foreign country.

This post will be short as it’s only an update but I’ll be following it with couple more in the next couple weeks to make up for the lack of posting !
Also there’s not that many pictures for this month and I apologize for that but somehow along the way the moments that have meant the most to me this month are things that even a picture couldn't compute completely.
